Gooch & Housego PLC hereby confirm that they have been informed today, 30
January 2007, that Montanaro Investment Managers Limited did reduce its
shareholding by the sale of 50,000 ordinary shares of 20p each. This sale
reduces Montanaro's Shareholding to 490,327 Ordinary Shares, representing 2.71%
of the total issued share capital of Gooch & Housego PLC.
