                      NOTIFICATION OF DIRECTOR'S DEALINGS

Gooch & Housego PLC hereby confirm that they have been notified by Mr A W Gooch,
Executive Chairman, that he has sold 55,000 ordinary shares in the company, at
prices between 525p and 595p.  Mr A W Gooch's holding is now 1,769,598 shares
which represents 10.47% of the total issued share capital of Gooch & Housego
PLC.
