The Board of Gooch & Housego PLC announces that, with effect from today 
4 September, 2002, the Company and Ian Davidson, have mutually agreed to end 
their relationship on an amicable basis and that Mr Davidson's position as Chief
Executive Officer would cease with immediate effect.

The Company are grateful to Mr Davidson for his contribution during his period
of office.
