                       Appointment of New Group Geologist


Goldplat plc, the AIM listed gold producer, has appointed Mark Austin as Group
Geologist.  His appointment further strengthens the Company's team as it focuses
on creating increased value from its assets and developing its strategy of
expanding into gold mining through the acquisition of known deposits with
targets of between 200,000 and two million ounces of gold contained.


Mr. Austin has been working in the South African mining industry since 1981 in
various positions, both in mine management and geology.  Prior to joining
Goldplat, he was Vice President Operations for AIM listed Mano River Resources,
where he completed a feasibility study for its Liberian gold property.  Other
key positions he has held include Gold Division Consulting Geologist for JCI and
Senior Generative Geologist for Placer Dome Exploration Africa.

Note: Mr. Austin has been appointed as Group Geologist, which is a non-board
      position.
