Phulbari Coal Project Update

Asia Energy PLC 11 February 2005 Asia Energy plc PHULBARI COAL PROJECT - UPDATE Asia Energy Plc ('the Company') announced today that its operating subsidiary Asia Energy Corporation (Bangladesh) Pty Ltd had formerly lodged an application with the Government of Bangladesh for an 'Environmental Site Clearance' for its Phulbari Coal Project in north-west Bangladesh. The Company said an 'Initial Environmental Evaluation' document, prepared by its environmental consultants, SMEC International Pty Ltd, has been submitted to the appropriate authorities. The document was the culmination of more than six months' intensive field work. 'Asia Energy has now fulfilled an important environmental milestone in the Phulbari Coal Project feasibility study,' said Mr David Lenigas, Asia Energy's Joint Managing Director.
