Drilling Report

Glencar Mining PLC 18 July 2000 GLENCAR MINING PLC ('Glencar') Glencar begins exploration drilling Glencar is pleased to announce the commencement of a drilling programme on its Kildare prospecting licences. The first hole, currently underway, is a shallow, angled hole designed to confirm and refine our geological and structural interpretation. This hole will take approximately 3 weeks to complete and evaluate, following which we expect to commence the first deep hole to be drilled on the property with a target depth of approximately 600 metres. The drill target is a significant anomaly, both geochemical and geophysical, in a geological and structural setting similar to that hosting the Galmoy and Lisheen zinc mines of Arcon International and Anglo/Ivernia West respectively. Shallow reconnaissance drilling carried out on the property last year encountered pervasive zinc mineralisation in dolomitised limestones. Drilling to increase the ore reserve at Wassa in Ghana is expected to commence in early August of this year. It is anticipated that this drilling programme will result in an initial increase of some 190,000 ounces to the Proven and Probable Reserve at Wassa before the end of 2000.
