GALLIFORD TRY SECURES HEALTH & EDUCATION BUILDING CONTRACTS IN MIDLANDS WORTH £48 MILLION

Galliford Try plc, the housebuilding and construction group, announces that it has been appointed to two new construction contracts across the Midlands, worth a total of £48 million.

Firstly, Birmingham and Solihull Local Improvement Finance Trust ('BasLIFT') has reached financial close with Galliford Try Building to construct the new Birmingham Dental Hospital on the Pebble Mill site in the city. The £34 million project for BasLIFT will see the City's existing dental hospital at St Chad's Circus relocate and be combined with the University of Birmingham's school of dentistry at the site.

Secondly, the University of Nottingham has appointed Galliford Try Building to extend and refurbish the George Green Engineering and Science Library at its University Park campus under a £14 million construction contract. A new three storey, 7,300 sqm extension will be built, in addition to internal and external refurbishment of the existing four storey library complex.

Galliford Try Chief Executive Greg Fitzgerald commented: "It is hugely encouraging for our construction business that we are able to secure such significant work in the health and education sectors despite the economic climate. We look forward to successfully delivering both projects for our clients and wider stakeholders, and in turn providing end users in the Midlands with an enhanced built environment and improved facilities."
