Framework Agreement

Galliford PLC 9 May 2000 BT AWARDS £MULTI-MILLION FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT TO GALLIFORD COMMUNICATIONS Galliford Communications has been awarded a framework agreement to construct radio base business station sites throughout England, Wales and Scotland for BT as part of a project to provide Britain's police forces with a wireless communications service for voice and data communications. The framework agreement, which begins with an estimated £1.75 million contract for the first police force area in Lancashire, could potentially be worth an estimated £30m in a roll-out over five years. The award forms part of the Public Safety Radio Communications Service, a £2.5 billion contract that BT has been awarded by the UK government to provide a national digital radio service for the British police forces and the wider public safety market. The service will cover England, Scotland and Wales, with approximately 3,000 sites being constructed over the 5 year period. Galliford Communications, the specialist telecomms arm of national contractor Galliford UK, was awarded the agreement following a rigorous five-month tender process that highlighted its keen partnering approach. George Marsh, Chief Executive of Galliford plc, said: 'It is a great testimony that BT has chosen Galliford to work on this project. It is very similar to the work we've been doing with other operators and our track record formed an important part of the tender submission. The whole team is looking forward to cementing our relationship with BT over the next five years.'
