RESULT OF EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

Desire Petroleum plc announces that at an Extraordinary General Meeting of
Desire held earlier today the resolution set out in the notice of meeting
dated 11 September 1999 relating to, inter alia, the proposed merger of Desire
and Gaelic Resources Public Limited Company was duly passed by Desire
Shareholders.
Gaelic Shareholders and Gaelic Warrantholders are reminded that the first
closing date of the Merger Offer and the Warrant Offer is 3.00pm on 4 October
1999 and are encouraged to accept the Merger Offer and the Warrant Offer, as
appropriate, as soon as possible.
Unless the context otherwise requires, the definitions contained in the
circular dated 11 September 1999 also apply in this announcement.
