Fuller's Invest in Brewery

Fuller,Smith&Turner PLC 13 March 2001 FULLER'S TO INCREASE CAPACITY OF ITS CASK BEER Against a background of brewery closures, sell offs and volumes decline, Fuller's beers and 'London Pride' in particular, continue to flourish. As testament to its confidence in the future of this long established British industry, Fuller's is investing nearly £1 million in a new cask racking line so that the Company can keep up with increasing national demand for its cask conditioned beers. Fuller's has more than doubled its share of the cask ale market in just five years, its share rocketing from 1.7% in 1995 to 4.1% last year. The Company is one of the only brewers of traditional beers to have consistently grown over recent years, and its flagship brand, 'London Pride', is now the number three national brand in the Premium Cask Ale sector. Sales continue to increase annually at a very healthy rate, while the performance of Bass and Pedigree, the two brands ahead of Pride, both continue to decline. Fuller's is committed to investing in its brewery in order to increase its capacity and gear up for overall leadership in the foreseeable future. - ends - For further press information please contact: The Fuller's Press Office Gill Shaffer/Caroline Harwood/Julie Knight.
