Sports Direct International plc ('Sports Direct') notes today's statement by
Blacks Leisure Group plc ('Blacks').

Sports Direct can confirm that it has discussed Blacks' potential disposal of
Freespirit.  Sports Direct does not believe that it would be in the shareholders
of Blacks' interests for such a disposal to be made.  Sports Direct believes
that Freespirit represents an excellent opportunity for Blacks to deliver
sustainable growth and that a sale process would create significant disruption
within this division and destroy substantial value.  It also believes that the
Board of Blacks should be focussed on creating value for the business as a
whole.  It has, therefore, written to the Board of Blacks stating that it was
seriously considering requisitioning an Extraordinary General Meeting if a
disposal of Freespirit is pursued.  No such requisition, however, has yet been
made.
