      Jeremy Hodgson to Join Board of James Fisher & Sons

Mr. Jeremy Hodgson has been appointed a non-executive director
of  Barrow-based  shipowners James Fisher & Sons  plc  from  1
January  2000.   Mr.  Hodgson was head  of  the  shipping  and
aerospace  division of HSBC Bank plc, until his retirement  in
May this year.

After  a  long  and  successful career with  James  Fisher/Coe
Metcalf  Shipping, Trevor Hart has indicated his wish to  step
down from the board with effect from 14 January 2000.
