James Fisher and Sons plc
AGM Statement
At James Fisher and Sons plc's annual general meeting today chairman Tim Harris
made the following comments:
'2001 was an excellent year for James Fisher with strong growth in both
operating and pre tax profits. Trading for the first few months of 2002 has
been satisfactory building on the progress made last year.
James Fisher is much more than just a shipowner. There is a new emphasis on the
Company's core skills in the provision of marine services.
In pursuance of this strategy, James Fisher has today announced a new ten-year
bareboat charter of Pembroke Fisher, a 14,122 tonne Clean Petroleum Product
Tanker. The new tonnage tax regime has made more attractive such arrangements
which enable expansion without the commitment of further capital but on
competitive terms.
