ACQUISITION OF RYDER PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICES COMPLETED

FirstGroup is pleased to announce that the acquisition of Ryder
Public Transportation Service was completed today, Monday 13
September 1999.

On Tuesday 14 September 1999 the listing of Convertible Unsecured
Loan Stock units issued by FirstGroup Acquisition Ltd pursuant to
the rights issue, will be cancelled and dealings in the replacement
FirstGroup Ordinary Shares will commence.
