Ron Trenter Replaces David Heynes as Chairman

                     BOARD APPOINTMENT
                  NON-EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN
                             
Flare Group plc ('Flare'), the manufacturer and distributor
to   the  international  ceramics  markets,  announces  the
resignation of its Chairman, David Heynes, who has  retired
from the board with immediate effect.  Ron Trenter, who was
appointed  a  non-executive director of Flare  in   January
1999, will act as Chairman in his place.

Ron  Trenter, is Chairman of Oasis Healthcare  and  a  non-
executive  director of Upton & Southern Holdings Plc.  From
1971  to 1993 Mr Trenter was an executive at Texas Homecare
where  he became Chairman and Chief Executive in 1991.  His
time  at  Texas Homecare included the opening of its  first
store  in  1972 through to the establishment of 230  D.I.Y.
superstores throughout the UK and operations overseas.
