REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES


The  Board of Finsbury Growth Trust PLC announces that on 12 September 2000
the Company  repurchased for cancellation 240,000 of the Company's ordinary 
shares of  25p, representing 0.6% of the issued ordinary share capital, at a
price of 209.5p per share.

To  date  the  Company  has repurchased a total of 3,616,070  ordinary 
shares,representing  7.9%  of the original issued ordinary share capital.  
There are 42,383,930 ordinary shares remaining in issue.
