REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES

The Board of Finsbury Growth Trust Plc announces that on 28 September 2000 the
Company repurchased for cancellation 880,000 of the Company's ordinary shares of
25p, representing 2.2% of the issued ordinary share capital, at a price of
204.0p per share.

To date the Company has repurchased a total of 6,626,070 ordinary shares,
representing 14.4% of the original issued ordinary share capital.  There are
39,373,930 ordinary shares remaining in issue.
