                 Appointment of Operations Director

The Board of BGR plc is pleased to announce that Mr Paul Gilligan has
been  appointed as Operations Director and to the Board of the Group,
with immediate effect.

Paul  Gilligan, aged 38, is a leading industry operator with over  16
years  experience in the restaurant sector.  He joins the Group  from
PizzaExpress  where  he  spent  13  years  in  a  variety  of  roles,
culminating  with  his appointment to the Board in  January  1997  as
Property Director.

At  BGR,  Paul will be responsible for the Group's landbank and  site
development  as  it  continues the expansion  of  its  Fish!  concept
throughout the UK.

Paul  joined PizzaExpress in 1987 as a Franchise Executive.  At  this
time  there were only 37 restaurants in the Group. Paul was appointed
Franchise  Director in 1993. He was promoted to Property Director  in
1995 and appointed to the main Board in 1997. At PizzaExpress, he was
instrumental in the development of the PizzaExpress brand through its
rapid period of expansion and at the time of leaving had overseen its
growth to 250 restaurants throughout the UK and Ireland.

Prior  to  this, he worked for Imperial Inns & Taverns in  management
and with Horwath & Horwath (UK) Limited as a consultant.  He has a BA
in Hotel and Catering Management.
