  GENESIS EMERGING MARKETS FUND LIMITED (the 'Company')
                            
At  the  end  of  the Rights period on 25 February  2000,
approximately  74  per cent of the Rights  to  reclassify
Participating  Shares into Realisation  Shares  had  been
exercised. Warburg Dillon Read will be seeking  to  place
the  balance of unexercised Rights on or before  3  March
2000  with investors who were not able to exercise  their
Rights during the period because of settlement and  other
problems.
