Letter to London Stock Exchange:

Letter dated 15 September 2000

Pursuant to our Listing Agreement, you are hereby notified of the following
officer elections effective October 1, 2000:

-    Elizabeth S. Acton - Vice President - Treasurer replacing Malcolm S.       
    Macdonald.

-    Malcolm S. Macdonald has been named to the new position of Vice President  
    Finance  and Treasury Matters.

-    Dennis E. Ross has been named Vice President - General Counsel replacing   
    John M. Rintamaki who remains Group Vice President, Chief of Staff and      
   Secretary.

-    Lloyd E. Hansen - Vice President - Controller replacing William A. Swift.  
    Mr Swift also will continue as Vice President - Controller until the end    
   of the year, at which time he plans to retire.
