                             PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES











FBD has today purchased 3.8m. of its own ordinary shares at a price of €34.00
per share ('Buyback'),  representing 9.96% of the Company's issued share capital
before the Buyback.



FBD intends to cancel the Buyback shares.



Following the Buyback and cancellation of shares, the total ordinary share
capital of FBD (excluding Treasury shares) will be 34,361,306.      FBD holds
1,099,900 ordinary shares as Treasury shares.
