                     Award of Mauritania Drilling Contract


Fusion is an international oil and gas exploration company, with extensive
interests in deepwater West Africa, comprising 8 licenses across 6 countries.
During 2002 the Company will be drilling up to three wells on its Mauritanian
acreage where its first well, Chinguetti-1, was a significant oil and gas
discovery.

Fusion announces that Woodside Mauritania Pty Ltd acting as Operator of the
Mauritania PSC A & B joint ventures has entered into a contract with Chevron/
Texaco and Transocean Sedco Forex for an assignment of the Deepwater Discovery
rig from its current contract with Chevron/Texaco.

The rig is contracted to arrive in Mauritania within a 2 month window of August/
September pending its current operations in West Africa.  The contract in
relation to PSC's A & B is for one firm well with two single well options.
