The eVestment Company Plc ('eVestment')
eVestment takes stake in Internet New Artist Promoter
eVestment, the internet and e-commerce investment
company, is pleased to announce that it has invested
£500,000 in musicunsigned.com, an independent Internet-
based music and directory service created to help up and
coming artists.
Musicunsigned.com offers guidance to unsigned artists -
covering genres from rock to dance, easy listening and
jazz - and promotes them, through exposure on the
internet, to consumers and record companies.
Amongst its services, Musicunsigned.com:
* offers bands their own website, featuring
photographs, biographies and discographies and gig
listings
* allows consumers to sample new bands' music on the
web-site through 3 minute segments of tracks
* monitors the popularity of bands' websites and
tracks to give bands and record companies accurate and
constructive feedback
* through Blue List, a pioneering and new
comprehensive Music Directory, offers a free facility for
bands to locate anything they need from a session player or
sound engineer through to a lawyer or PR
* offers bands cost effective studio time, through
lastminutestudio.com, a revolutionary new digital market
place, which proactively brings together musicians,
engineers and producers with available studio space
* can secure for artists publishing and rights deals
through its publishing arm, Massive Music.
Musicunsigned.com was founded by Aroon Maharajh, Managing
Director and Andy Barnett, Head of Operations. They are
supported by a team of music industry professionals
including Stewart Feeney, former Warner/Chappell Music
A&R publishing manager, Bob Mallett, previously of
Battery Studios and Freakstreet Music's Robbie Ringwood.
Paul Ayres, former MD of Real Networks and Netscape, has
joined the board as Vice President and will be working
alongside Aroon Maharajh. Ayres brings an enormous
wealth of online experience; he established
Real Networks' profile in Europe and took it to the
number one spot in the music download technology market,
prior to which he was International Access Director at
the Interface Corporation.
Chris Roberts, eVestment Chief Executive, commented:
'Musicunsigned.com kills the tradition of expensive and
tedious demo tapes and mail-outs, replacing them with an
instant access, global, high-quality online music library
and directory. It gives the artists more control over
their own future and acts as a bridge between the
industry and the artist.
'Artists are frustrated by the music industry's sluggish
response digital media advances and are increasingly
turning to the Internet as a real alternative to the
traditional A&R route. We believe that musicunsigned.com
is very well positioned to take advantage of this trend
and other internet developments in the music industry.'
