Appointment of director

European Motor Hldgs PLC 01 June 2005 EUROPEAN MOTOR HOLDINGS plc ("the Company") PROPOSED APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR As previously reported, the Company does not currently have two independent non executive directors as required by the revised Combined Code on Corporate Governance. The Board stated in its Corporate Governance report in the Company's Report and Financial Statements for the year ended 28 February 2005 that it was engaged in an exercise to identify and appoint a second independent non executive director. European Motor Holdings plc is now delighted to announce that it will appoint Mr David Beck FCCA as a non executive director immediately following the conclusion of the Company's Annual General Meeting on 17 June 2005. Mr Beck will serve on the Board's Audit and Remuneration Committees and his appointment will now enable the Board to form a Nominations Committee which complies with the Combined Code. Mr Beck, 60, a Certified Accountant, held senior management positions at British Leyland, Lex Service group plc (where he was managing director of the Lex Retail Group) and, latterly, at Quicks Group plc, where he held both executive and non executive director roles prior to that company's acquisition by C D Bramall plc in May 2002. Since 1995 Mr Beck has been acting as an independent consultant, specialising in international automotive distribution and during that period has taken on non executive directorships or long term adviser roles with several major European motor groups. The Board are confident that Mr Beck's extensive commercial and financial experience at senior management level will be of considerable benefit to the Company in his role as an independent non executive director. There are no further disclosures to be made pursuant to rule 16.4 of the Listing Rules as to the appointment of Mr Beck.
