AGM Statement

European Motor Hldgs PLC 22 June 2001 EUROPEAN MOTOR HOLDINGS plc ('EMH') At the Annual General Meeting of EMH held earlier today, Richard Palmer, Chief Executive, made the following statement: 'Our performance since the start of our new financial year on 1 March has been ahead of our budget and ahead of our performance last year. In September there will be a new registration system introduced for cars in the United Kingdom. We believe that this new type of number plate, together with stable new vehicle prices and low interest rates, will continue to stimulate vehicle demand. The position with regard to our Mercedes-Benz franchises remains unchanged. We are continuing to explore various options for these businesses. However, the legality of the twelve month termination notices is expected to be examined by the High Court in July and our position will, we expect, become clearer after that date. In summary, the Group continues to perform well and we expect another successful year's trading.' All the resolutions proposed by EMH at today's Annual General Meeting have been passed by shareholders. We are also pleased to announce that we have appointed Brewin Dolphin as joint brokers to the company alongside our existing brokers WestLB Panmure. - END -
