Drilling Report

ENTERPRISE OIL PLC 1 October 1999 Enterprise Oil announces successful appraisal well in Norway Enterprise Oil has completed the drilling of the Skarv appraisal well, about 200 kilometres off the coast of Helgeland in north Norway. Well 6507/5-2 was drilled down dip from the discovery well in a water depth of 347 metres to a vertical depth of 3,877 metres below sea level, and terminated in rock of early Jurassic age. The Smedvig West Alpha rig was used to drill the well. The well discovered gas pay in the Jurassic and has successfully confirmed the extent of the hydrocarbons in this area of the Skarv structure. The well was not tested as sufficient data was collected through coring and an open-hole logging programme. The co-venturers are analysing the well results to define further the field's potential. John Crowle, General Manager, Enterprise Oil Norway commented: 'This successful appraisal well has contributed significantly to our understanding of the Skarv area, and confirms that there is significant potential in the whole Skarv-Idun-Norne trend. Further drilling is scheduled in the area, and studies of potential development models continue.'
