Trading update for the six months ended 30 June 2015

Notice of half year results

EMIS Group plc (AIM: EMIS.L), the UK leader in connected healthcare software and services, today announces a trading update for the six months ended 30 June 2015 and its notice of half year results.

Overview

Trading for the half year was in line with the Board's expectations, with continued organic growth complemented by good performances from the two acquisitions completed during the second half of 2014 (Indigo 4 and Medical Imaging). The Group's revenue visibility, order book and pipeline remains strong.

Market share in Primary Care and Community Pharmacy was maintained, there was further market share growth in Community, Child and Mental Health (CCMH) and Secondary & Specialist Care secured a number of contract wins. The Group's software businesses were rebranded as EMIS Health on 24 June 2015.

Divisional review

In Primary & Community Care, at the period end EMIS Web for GPs was live in 4,431 practices, an increase of 168 since 31 December 2014. The roll-out programme in England is complete. In Wales over 95% of the Group's practices have already transitioned to EMIS Web and the remainder have booked deployment dates before the end of 2015. In Northern Ireland, all the existing practices have had or have booked a demonstration of EMIS Web, pilots have already begun and it is planned that practices will start to upgrade to EMIS Web in the fourth quarter this year.

The procurement of Lot 3 of the English GP Systems of Choice (GPSoC) was successfully concluded on 27 March 2015.

Extensive CCMH activity included not only contract wins but also significant on schedule implementations. During the period over 2,200 new users were trained bringing the total number of CCMH users to nearly 12,500.

The Community Pharmacy market share was maintained as ProScript Connect, the Group's next generation dispensary pharmacy management product, was prepared for piloting in the final quarter of 2015. The Group's suite of integrated products enabling direct connections between pharmacists, GPs and patients was made available across the pharmacy estate.

The Secondary & Specialist Care management team was strengthened with the appointment of a new Managing Director of Secondary Care in February 2015 and a new Secondary Care Commercial Director in May 2015. Good progress has been made with delivering major contracts, including Unscheduled Care across Wales, and a strong pipeline is expected to lead to further contract wins in the second half of the year.

Indigo 4, acquired in July 2014, and Medical Imaging, acquired in December 2014, are both performing well and were earnings enhancing in the half year.

Integrated care

Phase one of the Group's first international Whole Healthcare Economy contract, to deliver a fully integrated electronic patient record for Gibraltar, went live on 24 June 2015. This phase links and integrates the Group's products in Accident & Emergency, Primary Care and Community Pharmacies.

Financial position

The Group strengthened its balance sheet during the first half with net cash at 30 June 2015 of £1.3m (31 December 2014: net debt of £11.8m), reflecting strong seasonal cash flows.

Notice of half year results

The Group intends to announce its half year results on 4 September 2015.

Chris Spencer, CEO, said:

"EMIS Group has again continued to trade in line with our expectations. As planned, we completed the English roll-out of EMIS Web in Primary Care and won further significant CCMH contracts, while training over 2,200 new users. In Community Pharmacy and in Secondary & Specialist Care we maintained our already substantial market share and broadened our extensive pipeline."

"While the NHS in England has identified the need to create £22bn in efficiency savings to fill a £30bn gap between likely demand and funding by 2020, Tim Kelsey, National Director for Patients and Information at NHS England, has announced that the use of digital technology can create savings of £8.3bn to £13.7bn a year by then. We continue to regard EMIS Group as uniquely placed to help deliver those savings and remain confident in our outlook for the remainder of the year."
