Trading update for the six months ended 30 June 2014

Notice of half year results

EMIS Group plc (AIM: EMIS.L), the UK leader in connected healthcare software and services, today announces a trading update for the six months ended 30 June 2014 and its notice of half year results.

Overview

Trading for the half year was in line with management expectations with continued organic growth in revenues and profits. The two acquisitions (Ascribe and Digital Healthcare) completed during the second half of 2013 also made positive contributions with further contract wins expected to boost performance in the remainder of the year. The Group continues to benefit from significant and growing revenue visibility.

The Group's primary care market share was broadly unchanged and there was market share growth in Community, Child and Mental Health (CCMH), Community Pharmacy and Secondary & Specialist Care.

Divisional review

In Primary & Community Care the roll-out of EMIS Web for GPs in England continued to progress in accordance with the agreed GP Systems of Choice (GPSoC) timetable. At the period end, there were 3,751 live EMIS Web GP practices in England and Wales (representing 84% of EMIS's total GP estate in those countries), an increase of 424 compared with 3,327 at 31 December 2013. All the remaining practices had either ordered EMIS Web or were in the familiarisation service.

As previously announced, the procurement of Lot 1 of the GPSoC Framework reached a successful conclusion and the procurements of Lots 2 and 3 are progressing as expected.

The Group continued to build momentum in CCMH with a full pipeline for its integrated offering and further contract wins in North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Blackpool, Southport & Ormskirk and Leeds.

In Community Pharmacy, the Group had a further successful half year in which it increased its significant market share and, after innovative pilots to link community pharmacies and GPs, nationally launched a suite of integrated products enabling direct connections between pharmacists, GPs and patients.

In Secondary & Specialist Care further contract wins were secured in hospitals and the roll-out of upgraded diabetic retinopathy software to comply with the requirements of Public Health England is almost complete. The integration of these businesses is proceeding well and the first phase of a fully integrated suite of cross-Group products was launched and demonstrated on 3 June 2014.

Financial position

EMIS Group retains a strong balance sheet with net debt reducing significantly during the period as a result of strong cash flow to £0.1m at 30 June 2014 (31 December 2013: £13.5m).

Notice of half year results

The Group intends to announce its half year results on 5 September 2014.

Chris Spencer, CEO, said:

"As well as trading in line with our expectations, the first half of 2014 was another period of encouraging progress for EMIS Group. In Primary & Community Care we remained on track for completion of the roll-out to English GPs of EMIS Web while winning a number of significant CCMH contracts and across Community Pharmacy and Secondary & Specialist Care we widened and deepened our connected healthcare offerings."

"Along with politicians from every major party, we are committed to the vision of better and cheaper healthcare through connected software and services. We regard EMIS Group as being uniquely placed to help deliver that vision and are confident in our outlook for the remainder of the year."
