New Senior Managers Appointed

               ELEMENTIS APPOINTS NEW SENIOR MANAGERS

Elementis plc, the specialty chemicals group, today announces a
number of important new senior management appointments.

These appointments continue the process of strengthening the
senior management team following the appointment of a new
managing director in each business earlier this year.

Lyndon Cole, Group Chief Executive of Elementis plc, said,  'We
made a commitment to bring new, high quality management into the
business and I am delighted that we have been able to attract
these experienced and talented people to join our existing senior
management team.'

The appointments are;

Elementis plc

Walker Allen has been appointed in-house General Counsel for the
US based operations.  Walker joins Elementis from GE Capital
having previously worked with Lyndon Cole in the Structured
Products Division of GE. Prior to working for GE, Walker was in
private practice with a New York law firm between 1988 and 1995.

The position of US General Counsel is new to the Group and has
been established in recognition of the need for the US businesses
to have available to them in-house expert legal advice.

Carl Mattia has been appointed Group VP Risk Management and has
overall responsibility for risk management throughout Elementis.
Prior to joining Elementis, Carl was VP Environment, Health and
Safety Management Systems at the BF Goodrich Company.  A
qualified lawyer, Carl also has 30 years experience of managing
health, safety and environmental issues.

Elementis Chromium

Roger Perkins joins Elementis Chromium as Director of Finance.
Roger has extensive experience of the chemical industry having
worked in a variety of financial and strategic development roles
in Du Pont and ICI.  Reporting to global Managing Director Paul
Tomkinson, Roger will have responsibility for the finance
function of Elementis Chromium in the US and UK.

Elementis Specialties

David Fisher has been appointed Vice President Operations of
Elementis Specialties.  This new role brings the responsibility
for manufacturing in the Elementis Specialties businesses
worldwide together for the first time.

David previously worked for the Rheox business until 1996 and
joins Elementis from Harris Specialty Chemicals in the US.  He
reports to Charles Tuchel, Chief Executive Officer of Elementis
Specialties.
