BOARD APPOINTMENT AT EDINBURGH WORLDWIDE INVESTMENT TRUST PLC


The Board of Edinburgh Worldwide Investment Trust is pleased to announce the
appointment of Mr William Ducas as a non-executive director with effect from
today, 22 March 2002.

William Ducas (57) is the managing director of F&C Management Limited of North
America.  He established F&C Management's first office in the United States
in1992 and was appointed managing director in that year.  He was previously a
senior international lawyer of the Bank of Boston.
