Appointment of a New Director


Edinburgh New Income Trust plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Jo
Elliot as an independent non-executive Director to the Board and Chairman of the
Audit Committee, with effect from 16 April 2008.


Mr Elliot is deputy chief executive of Quayle Munro Holdings plc, an independent
AIM-listed investment banking group which provides corporate finance advisory
work and specialist fund management.    He is also a director of J W Galloway
Ltd and a number of special purpose PFI companies, and a Governor of Edinburgh
College of Art.  He is a former director of Edinburgh High Income Trust plc and
Edinburgh High Zeros 2005 plc. He is also a trustee of  the Edinburgh
International Festival Endowment Fund and the Lean Scully Fund.


Mr Elliot is currently beneficially interested in 4,215 ordinary shares and
4,739 ZDP shares of the Company.


There are no disclosures required under Section 9.6.13 (2) to (6) of the Listing
Rules.
