On 23 December 1999, The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc bought back a further
60,000 ordinary shares for cancellation at a price of 533p per share. Following
the buy back, there are 279,302,634 ordinary shares in issue. The share
buy-back will be financed out of capital reserve.
