                               Holding in Company

The  Company  has  been  informed on 5 September 2005 that  Schroder  Investment
Management Limited ("SIML") has an interest in 4,377,786 ordinary shares  of  5p
each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares"), which are held in portfolios managed on
a discretionary basis for clients under investment management agreements.

Included in the above figure are:

i.   169,567  Ordinary  Shares registered or to be registered  in  the  name  of
     SIML's  wholly-owned subsidiary nominee company, Schroder Nominees  Limited
     (Schroder Nominees);

ii.  1,736,428 Ordinary Shares held in (a) unit trust(s) operated and managed by
     an   affiliated  company,  Schroder  Unit  Trusts  Limited  ("SUTL"),   and
     registered or to be registered in the name of Chase Nominees Limited; and

iii. 811,644   Ordinary   Shares  in  the  name  of  the  British   Coal   Staff
     Superannuation a/c:P;

iv.  230,000 Ordinary Shares in the name of the Chase Nominees Limited;

v.   880,147 Ordinary Shares in the name of Mineworkers' Pension Scheme a/c:R;

vi.  200,000 Ordinary Shares in the name of Nortrust Nominees Limited; and

vii. 350,000 Ordinary Shares in the name of the Chase Nominees Limited.

A  subsidiary, Schroder Investment Management North America Ltd (SIMNA  Ltd)  is
managing  (a) portfolio(s) on a similar basis holding a further 350,000 Ordinary
Shares.  These  shares are registered or to be registered in the name  of  Chase
Nominees Limited.

As  a  consequence  SIML,  its  subsidiaries and affiliated  companies  have  an
interest  in  an  overall  aggregate of 4,727,786 Ordinary  Shares  representing
approximately 15.27 per cent. of the total number Ordinary Shares  currently  in
issue, being 30,959,927 Ordinary Shares.

This notification is made:

(a) in respect of SIML's interest as investment managers,

(b)  on  behalf  of  SIMNA Ltd and SUTL in relation to the  interests  they  are
treated as having under the Companies Act 1985 (the "Act"), and

(c) on behalf of Schroders plc, which is treated as having an interest in all of
the above shares under the Act by virtue of its ownership of SIMNA Ltd, SUTL and
SIML.
