Eckoh wins secure payment contract with a major high street retailer

Eckoh plc (AIM: ECK), the UK's leading provider of speech recognition and associated payment solutions, today announces that it has secured a three year contract to provide secure card payment services to a major high street retailer.

Eckoh will supply the client with EckohPROTECT, a payment solution which prevents card details from being seen or heard by contact centre agents when customers make payments over the phone. Implementing this PCI DSS compliant solution improves the security and privacy of their customers' personal information.

As part of its business objectives, the client is investing in its multi-channel UK operations with new technology and logistics to give customers the best possible shopping experience. By using Eckoh as their level one PCI DSS compliant service provider, the retail group can focus on their core business objectives and quickly satisfy a long and detailed part of the compliance process. The service is expected to commence in spring 2013.

Nik Philpot, Chief Executive Officer of Eckoh, commented: "This is the second major retail brand to adopt EckohPROTECT in the latter half of this financial year, and underlines the importance being placed on compliance with the PCI Data Security Standards. Businesses are implementing Eckoh's payment solutions not only to solve a business challenge, but to enhance the secure payment environment for their customers. Following a recent consumer survey that Eckoh undertook, we believe that consumers will increasingly come to expect this level of assurance when making payments over the phone."

Eckoh recently questioned over 1,000 adults on their attitude towards making a payment for goods and services by reading out their card details to a contact centre agent. 70% of respondents said they were generally worried about credit card fraud and 86% said that they thought there was a level of risk of the contact centre agent stealing their card details. Because EckohPROTECT removes the need for the caller to speak their details and ensures that no card data is passed to the contact centre agent, Eckoh expects over time that this will become the method that consumers will demand when paying for goods and services over the phone.
