Eckoh wins contract to provide National Rail Enquiries with new TrainTracker Service

Eckoh plc (AIM: ECK), the UK's leading provider of speech recognition and associated payment solutions across voice, web and mobile channels, today announces that it has agreed the contract to provide National Rail Enquiries ("NRE") with a new TrainTracker service.

TrainTracker is a speech recognition based train update service which provides callers over the phone with real-time and timetabled journey plans (including fares) throughout the UK rail network. The service is one of the most widely used speech services in the UK and Eckoh has been operating it since it first went live in 2004, over which time the service has taken 27 million calls.

The new contract, which runs until 2014, will see Eckoh deliver a completely new version of TrainTracker utilising Eckoh's latest speech recognition technology and VoiceXML platform. The service is expected to go live in the Autumn. The new TrainTracker service will for the first time also provide the capability to offer real-time disruption information. To enable that functionality Eckoh is designing the service to be able to handle peaks of up to 200,000 calls in a day without any call rejection or engaged tones.

Chris Scoggins, Chief Executive Officer for National Rail Enquiries said: "National Rail Enquiries has always led the way in maximising communications technology to provide customers with fast and accurate access to information and TrainTracker is a great example of this in action. TrainTracker has provided millions of customers with information when they most needed it and we look forward to the next generation of the service continuing to do this for many years to come. Eckoh's expertise, approach and professionalism are unquestionable and they have proven that they are the market leader in providing complex speech recognition services like TrainTracker. When combined with their ability to handle huge peaks in demand from our customers they were the natural choice when we came to contract for the new TrainTracker."

Nik Philpot, Chief Operating Officer for Eckoh, commented: "We are delighted to have agreed terms with National Rail Enquiries to deliver this new TrainTracker service and to continue the fantastic relationship that we have had with them over the last 8 years. TrainTracker continues to be a cornerstone of National Rail Enquiries and we expect the new service to exemplify their commitment to using market leading technology to deliver the highest quality customer service."
