Independent Resources plc statement re press speculation

The Board of Independent Resources plc (the 'Company') notes the press
speculation today in relation to interest in its Rivara underground gas storage
project in northern Italy and confirms that it has held discussions with Gaz de
France ('GdF') in relation to GdF acquiring a minority stake in the Company's
Rivara project. Discussions are continuing and a further announcement will be
made in due course if appropriate.
