                                Trading Update


At  the  time  of  the announcement of its results in June 2000,  the  Company
referred  to  prevailing high book-to-bill ratios and quarterly  order  growth
rates.   Those  buoyant  trading conditions have been maintained  through  the
first  half of the current financial year, and have translated into  sustained
sales growth.

Acal  has  had  notable  success in electronic components,  where  continental
European  businesses  in particular have out-performed  against  expectations,
with  high  levels of demand from manufacturers of cellular base stations  and
products  for  the  data  communications, wireless and  high-speed  networking
markets.   Success  in  electronic components has been complemented  by  major
growth  in  sales  of networking products and fibre channel products  for  the
rapidly growing Storage Area Network market.

As  a result of the buoyant trading conditions being experienced, Acal expects
its  performance for the half year ending 30th September 2000 to be  ahead  of
current market expectations.

The Company expects to announce its interim results on 4th December 2000.
