                         Retirement of Mr J V Pomeroy


Acal plc announces that Mr J V Pomeroy has retired as a director of the company
with effect from today. He will retire from his position as Company Secretary on
16 June 2003.

Commenting on Mr Pomeroy's retirement, John Curry, the Chairman of Acal plc
said:-

"John joined the Board in February 1987. He has been a wise and loyal member of
the team and we will miss his balanced view and friendship. We thank him for his
contribution over 16 years."
