Richard Young Appointed an Executive Director

LETTER TO:  COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENTS OFFICE

We wish to inform you that at the board meeting held earlier today, Mr Richard
Young was appointed an executive Director of Dewhurst plc effective from 1st
February 2000.

Mr Young is currently managing director of a wholly owned subsidiary, Thames
Valley Controls Limited, and although he will remain in this position his
appointment to the parent company board will enable him to make a wider
contribution.
