De La Rue plc announces that on 29 January 2007 it purchased for cancellation
100,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 644.2875p per share from JPMorgan
Cazenove Limited.

Following this purchase the total number of shares in issue will be 160,613,979
shares.

De La Rue plc does not hold any shares in Treasury and hence the total number of
voting rights in the Company following this purchase is 160,613,979.
