December 2001 from Barclays PLC giving notice that, in compliance with Part VI
of the Companies Act 1985, its interest in the Ordinary Shares of 25p each of
the Company is as follows:

'As at 12 December 2001, Barclays PLC, through its subsidiary Barclays Bank
PLC, no longer has a notifiable interest in the capital of the Company'
