COMPANY DIRECTOR LEAVES DE LA RUE

Richard Laing has left the Company and resigned as a director of De La Rue plc
effective 31 August 1999.

As previously announced, following his resignation as Finance Director and the
appointment of Paul Hollingworth on 1 August 1999, Mr Laing had agreed to
remain on the board of the Company until 31 August 1999 to ensure a smooth
handover.
