                        COMPLETION OF THE ACQUISITION OF
                          PAPELACO BANKING AUTOMATION

Further to the announcement on 22 March 2002, De La Rue has now received the
necessary regulatory approval from the Portuguese Competition Authorities and
has completed the acquisition of the banking automation business of Papelaco.
