F&C CAPITAL AND INCOME INVESTMENT TRUST PLC
TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES


The Board of F&C Capital and Income Investment Trust PLC ("the Company")
announces that on 23 November 2007 the Company purchased 50,000 of its ordinary
shares of 25p each to be held in treasury at a price of 233p per share.

The Company's issued ordinary share capital is now 82,191,279 of which 3,537,011
shares are held in treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in the Company is 78,654,268.

The above figure (78,654,268) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for
the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
