F&C CAPITAL AND INCOME INVESTMENT TRUST PLC
TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

The Board of F&C Capital and Income Investment Trust PLC ("the Company")
announces that on 14 December 2007 the Company purchased 108,000 of its ordinary
shares of 25p each at a price of 239p per share to be held in treasury.

The Company's issued ordinary share capital is 82,191,279 of which 3,912,011
shares are held in treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in the Company is now 78,279,268.

The above figure (78,279,268) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for
the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
