RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 7th October 2009 it transferred to participants in its employee share schemes 78,375 Ordinary Shares at prices between €11.8573 and €24.2467 and at prices of £8.7104 and £14.1386 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transactions, CRH plc holds 13,619,916 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 693,558,524.
