RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 23^rd September 2009 it transferred to participants in its employee share schemes 476,644 Ordinary Shares at prices between €11.8573 and €18.8545 and at prices of £11.1630 and £14.1386 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transactions, CRH plc holds 13,857,087 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 693,321,353.
