I refer to the appointment of Barbara T. Alexander as a director of CRH plc with
effect from 15th December 1999. In relation to paragraph 16.4 of the Listing
Rules I confirm that:

(a) in the last five years the only publicly quoted company Ms. Alexander has   
   been a director of is Centex Corporation and Ms. Alexander is currently
    a director of that company.
(b) there are no details requiring disclosure under paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g).
