Company Appointment

The Board of Crest Nicholson PLC is pleased to announce that Ian Hughes, has
been appointed Company Secretary of Crest Nicholson PLC with immediate effect.

Ian, aged 47, has held a number of senior management positions within Crest
Nicholson over the past 20 years.  He joined Crest Nicholson in 1976 and was
Company Secretary between 1979 - 1988 and then Group Tax Executive/Internal
auditor from 1988 to date.  In addition to his role as Company Secretary he
will continue as Group Tax Executive.

Ian is a Chartered Accountant and spent two years with Peat Marwick Mitchell &
Co prior to joining Crest Nicholson.
