                      Disclosure of director's interest

Cranswick has today been informed that Noel Taylor, a non-executive director
of the company, yesterday sold 240,342 shares in Cranswick at a price of 402p
per share. Mr Taylor received these shares in consideration for selling his
business (F.T. Sutton & Son (Rossendale) Limited) to Cranswick in 1992. This
disposal has been made as part of Mr Taylor's estate planning for taxation
purposes. Following this disposal he retains a holding of 248,600 ordinary
shares, representing 1.3 percent. of Cranswick's issued share capital
